During my 35-year healthcare sales career, I learned to follow the science. When it comes to my family's health, I look for documented studies as doctors do, when deciding what is best. I have followed a whole food, plant-based diet (WFPB) diet for more than 13 years now and I couldn't feel better. There is a lot of documented scientific evidence to demonstrate the many health benefits of a plant-based diet.

There are several great books on the topic including the China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-Term Health and How Not to Die. I follow through leaders in nutrition, including John and Ocean Robbins at the Food Revolution Network and Dr. Michael Greger at Nutrionfacts.org, a strictly non-commercial, science based public service.

I'm a Pescatarian, meaning that in addition to vegetables, I eat fish. Technically speaking, even if you don't count the fish, I wouldn't be vegan because I eat cheese and eggs. (I call myself a part-time vegan!) Vegans are the most strict of the vegetarian options, but there's even other possibilities.
